Library access during summer

Starting 15 July, the African Library can temporarily be accessed by way of the University Library walkway only. The University Library is located right next to the Herta Mohr Building, on Witte Singel 27.

After entering the University Library, please proceed to the first floor using the stairs or the lift, and find the walkway to the African Library between study areas 1 and 2.

Summer opening hours
Until September, the library will be open on Monday - Friday from 9:00 - 17:00.

Collection

Most African Library materials can be borrowed at the African Library desk. Materials can also be requested using the Leiden University Libraries (UBL) catalogue, to be picked up at a later time at the pick-up location of your choice.

Part of the African Studies Centre Leiden collection is placed in the University Library's closed stacks. Most of these materials can also be borrowed. In case you would want to pick up any stack items the same working day, please choose pick-up location ‘University Library’ from the drop-down menu upon requesting.
