Where can I find the libraries?

Leiden University has library locations in Leiden and The Hague. Are you having trouble finding anything, or do you have a question? Our library staff is glad to help you. You can find them at the information desks, and around the library.

The largest library in Leiden is the University Library at the Witte Singel 27. The Humanities are the main focus of this library. The UB has the most study spaces of all of our locations. To enter the UB, you need an activated LU-Card. For some study places you need a reservation

If you are studying subjects that require information on Asia, then the Asian Library is your ideal study spot. The Asian Library can be found on the second floor of the UB. Most study places have to be booked in advance. Asian Studies students can book their spot three days in advance, while everyone else can book theirs two days prior. Asian Studies include: China Studies, Japan Studies, Korean Studies, South and Southeast Asia Studies and Asian Studies Master's programmes. Outside of exam weeks, Asian Library study places marked with a white or a light blue sticker can be used by all visitors.

The Law Library is located in the Kamerlingh Onnes building (KOG) on the Steenschuur 25. You'll find the library right across from the main entrance. The Law Library has a spacious reading room where you can take books off the shelves and borrow them at the lending desk. Many of the study spaces at this location are equipped with a desktop computer.

Like the UB, the Law Library is often open until late in the evening and you can study there on the weekends. To enter the Law library, you need an activated LU-Card. For some study places you need a reservation

The Social and Behavioural Sciences Library can be found in the Pieter de la Court building at the Wassenaarseweg 52 in Leiden. In this library, you can take books off the shelves and borrow them at the lending desk as well. To borrow books you need an activated LU-Card. For some study places you need a reservation. You'll also find African Studies Centre Leiden in the Pieter de la Court building. 

You can find the Wijnhaven Library at Turfmarkt 90 in The Hague, within a stone’s throw of The Hague Central Station. If you have classes in The Hague, Wijnhaven Library is your library of choice. To borrow books you need an activated LU-Card. Some study places in the Wijnhaven Library require booking.

The Walaeus Library is located at the LUMC and is focussed on the medical sciences. You'll have every kind of specialist literature you need is at your fingertips. You need an activated LU-Card to borrow books.

The Science Library is located at the Bio Science Park in the LMUY building and the Snellius building. You can study here during the opening hours of these faculty buildings. To borrow books you need an activated LU-Card and some study places require a reservation
