How to book a study place?
We have inspiring study places at all our locations. Some 2300 in total. Whether you want to work alone or in a group or need a computer, you will find the perfect spot in the library. Some study places have to be booked first.
You can reserve your study place via the online booking system or through our app (available in the App Store and Google Play). Simply select the library of your choice, log in with your ULCN account, and choose your preferred study spot. At the location, you can check in using your LU-Card or by scanning a QR code.
Reservations can be made up to two days in advance. Once your current reservation has ended, you can book a new time slot.
Do you have questions about booking a study place? Visit the support page, or ask us online or at one of our libraries.

When to reserve? Not always!
Outside of exam periods, almost all study spaces are available without a reservation. During exam periods, however, reservations are usually required.
Study spots with a computer, individual study rooms, and collaboration rooms must always be reserved.
Only Leiden University students can reserve study spaces. Non-reservable spots can be used by anyone with a valid and activated LU-Card.
In our libraries, you’ll find three types of standard study spaces, marked with stickers at each desk:
- White – Never reservable
- Light blue – Only reservable during exam periods
- Dark blue – Always reservable
Study places in faculty buildings
Did you know you can also reserve study places and free lecture rooms in all faculty buildings, Plexus and Beehive to study and work together?
