Functional characterization and unraveling the Gene Regulatory Networks (GRNs) of HD-Zip transcription factor HB40 (and HB22) in Arabidopsis
In this Ph.D. thesis, we characterized two novel upstream regulators of JUB1, HB40, and HB22, in Arabidopsis thaliana. In Chapter 2, we described functions of HB40 in modulating growth and development via the regulation of JUB1 and GA inactivation genes GA2OXs.

CM-values of p-adic Theta-functions
We prove a p-adic version of the work by Gross and Zagier on the differences between singular moduli by proving a set of conjectures by Giampietro and Darmon, who investigated the factorisation of a rational invariant associated to a pair of CM-points on a genus zero Shimura curve, obtained as the ratio…

Functional networks in healthy and sick brains
Are disturbances to the brain, such as Alzheimer's or autism, linked to specific defects in the underlying communication networks in the brain? If this is the case, subtle changes in the networks can act as a marker for brain disturbances. Neuroscientist Serge Rombouts will be investigating this, together…

Innovative diagnostics and treatments
The more we learn about a (neuro-)psychological or physical disorder and the related behavioral factors, the better we can not only identify them, but also treat them. It is therefore important that recent insights about (neuro-)psychological problems and related behavioral factors are incorporated…
