Limited library services due to coronavirus
Until further notice, Leiden University will be partially closed due to the coronavirus. Library services at Leiden University Libraries (UBL) have therefore been adjusted. UBL offers limited services at its library locations until further notice.
Access to library locations & book requests
- As of Saturday 14 March, all UBL locations will be closed for students, researchers, teachers and the public. All study facilities are closed, including the Special Collections reading room in the University Library.
- Delivery of physical materials (books and journals) to users will be continued. You will be able to request materials from the UBL catalogue from all library locations. These materials will be delivered to one of the four locker systems in our libraries. The books will be delivered at the location you choose in the catalogue. The pickup lockers are located at the following four locations: The University Library, the Social and Behavioral Sciences Library, the Wijnhaven Library and the Van Steenis building. Pickup at the lockers is possible during the opening hours of the building in which they are located. The University Library is open for this specific purpose between 09:00 and 19:00 on workdays and during the weekend. You will be able to return physical materials at these same four locations.
- All books and journals currently on loan have been automatically renewed until 6 April 2020.
- You can also still request books from libraries not affiliated with Leiden through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service, but we cannot guarantee these libraries will be able to deliver requested materials.
- All public events up to and including 6 April 2020 have been canceled. Participants have been notified
Digital access
