NWO Fund for Open Access Books

As of 1 June 2020, NWO will make 500,000 euros a year available for the Open Access publication of books resulting from funded projects.

In this way, the fund enables NWO grantees from disciplines with a focus on monographs to meet the NWO Open Access requirements without having to resort to different publication strategies. This is particularly important for Humanities and Law.

Applications for this ‘Open Access Books’ call for proposals can be submitted by the project leader or co-applicant throughout the year as long as the budget lasts.

This fund applies to all academic books from projects funded by NWO, and researchers can also submit after a project has been finished, as NWO realizes that writing a book often takes longer than the duration of a project.

Open Access Books is a continuous call, initially until 2022. The total budget is 500,000 euros per year with a limit of 10,000 euros per publication.
