Studying at the library

The library locations offer 1860 study places and many facilities to ensure a pleasant study environment.

All library locations have study places with and without computer. The University Library offers sixteen individual study rooms and several group study rooms

Using the library facilities

To enter the University Library and the Law Library and to use on-site library facilities you need your personal LU-Card. Your ULCN-account offers remote access to the online library collections from anywhere in the world.

University Library

The largest library in Leiden is the University Library at the Witte Singel 27. The UB has the most study spaces of all our locations. You can find a spot to study virtually any time or study alone or in a group in one of the rooms available at the reception. 

Asian Library

If you are studying subjects that require information on Asia, then the Asian Library is your ideal study spot. The Asian Library is housed on the second floor of the UB and is only accessible with an LU-Card that has specific rights added to enter the Asian Library.

Law Library

The Law Library can be found at the Kamerlingh Onnes building (KOG) on the Steenschuur 25. The Law Library has a spacious reading room where you can take books off the shelves and borrow them at the lending desk. Like the UB, the Law Library is often open until late in the evening and you can study there on the weekend.

Social and Behavioural Sciences Library

The Social and Behavioural Sciences Library can be found in the Pieter de la Court building at the Wassenaarseweg 52 in Leiden. After a thorough renovation, the library has recently been reopened to the public. Come study in the new reading room, or settle down in a group workroom. In this library, you can take books off the shelves and borrow them at the lending desk as well. You'll also find African Studies Centre Leiden in the Pieter de la Court building. 

Science Library

The Science Library has two locations: in the LMUW and Snellius buildings. Do you want a quiet spot to study at the Bio Science Park? You can always find one at these libraries during the opening hours of these faculty buildings.

Wijnhaven Library

You can find the Wijnhaven Library at Turfmarkt 90 in The Hague. This library location can be found within a stone’s throw of The Hague Central Station. If you have classes in The Hague, Wijnhaven Library is your library of choice.

Walaeus Library

The Walaeus Library is located at the LUMC and is exclusively accessible to medical students. At the Walaeus Library all of the specialist literature you need is at your fingertips.
