Fascia : the not-so empty space between

This workshop will be scheduled later this year

Teacher
Natalie Heller

For whom
Mixed level.
The work is relevant for both professional dance artists, as well as amateurs, yoga teachers and massage therapists.

Content
Ever wondered what holds your body together? Why we don’t just spill out into the world? The complex and beautiful fascial system not only wraps around our muscles and our organs, it also runs under our skin. It is the true barrier between us and the world.

Come and discover the magic of your fascial system. Become aware of how every position, and every movement involves the fascia.
Learn to sense the fascia in your own body through movement and visualisation exercises with the use of fun props!
Experience fascia and touch.  Through experiential anatomy we explore location, tonality and sensation of the fascia using partner hands-on work.
Practice techniques to release your fascial system and reduce physical pain in key locations such as the lower back, the pelvis and the neck.
Sense how your movement can be fully integrated through awareness and activation of this support system.

In this workshop I draw from recent research into the fascia made by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Eric Franklin and Tom Myers.
