Ambassador Latvia visits Leiden University Library

On Friday, March 10th Latvian ambassador dr. Ilze Rūse visited Leiden University Library and met a Leiden delegation led by Rector Magnificus Carel Stolker.

The members of the delegation discussed various possibilities with regard to cooperation between Latvian universities and Leiden University. In 2018 the three Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia) will celebrate 100 years of independence. This could be a wonderful occasion to set up as well ad-hoc as more structural scholarly contacts around certain themes, such as transitioning democracies, security studies and linguistics.

The ambassador also donated a wonderful collection of Latvian books on history, literature, art, architecture and photography to Leiden University Library.
