Crowdfunding success for Menno ter Braak library
Thanks to a successful crowfunding project, Leiden University Libraries can acquire the library of Menno ter Braak, one of the most important Dutch critics (1902-1940). Between April and December 2014, 126 interested people have adopted books from the collection for over €19,000.
Ter Braak was a major Dutch critic and a clear-sighted commentator. His library consists of books about Dutch literature and history, German literature, politics, history, culture and more. The collection is valuable for research and education because of Ter Braak’s personal notes and assignments. His library also includes special editions.
Next step: public access to the collection
The library will become available for education and research via Leiden University Libraries.
Starting January 2015, the books will be catalogued
From then on you can request catalogued works via the Catalogue in the Special Collections Reading Room
Early 2015 we will present a selection of adopted books in a web exhibition with the adopters’ story behind their choice
