Demolition works near the University Library
On Wednesday 6 July 2022, the final demolition works on Cluster Zuid of the to be developed Humanities Campus will start. The demolition of the largest building in the Van Wijkplaats, next to the University Library (UB) will begin in the early afternoon. These activities could cause some noise inconvenience in the library. The major demolition works are expected to be completed by 30 July, 2022.
Studying at the library
The study areas at the middle and north facing sides of the UB, such as the reading room entrances 4 - 8 and ground floor areas, will likely be less affected by noise.
Feel free to collect a free set of ear plugs at the UB reception desk. For any complaints regarding more serious noise disturbances, please contact us using 'Ask a librarian'.
To facilitate the Humanities Campus construction works, many of the bicycle racks at the UB have had to be removed. Bicycles can be parked between the University Library and the Matthias de Vrieshof, and at the indoor bicycle parking facilities in Lipsius and Reuvens.
The bicycle racks in front of the University Library will be restored as soon as possible. The ones near Van Eyckhof will remain unavailable for a longer period.
