Open Access cap at Springer to be reached soon
The Open Access agreement concluded with Springer publishers on behalf of the universities in the Netherlands is based on a maximum of 2,080 articles per year. The possibility to publish Open Access articles in Springer journals was widely used in 2021. As a result, the agreed maximum number of articles will be reached soon.
When the cap is reached, articles that are accepted during the remainder of 2021 will no longer be eligible for Open Access without costs to Leiden researchers. If you expect an article to be accepted in 2021, please pay close attention to our communication on the topic.
For now, we advise authors, wishing to submit an article to a Springer journal, to get in touch with the library at email@example.com so that we can discuss which alternatives are available to make their article Open Access.
The current agreement with Springer ends on 31st December 2021. Negotiations about renewal are ongoing, so please pay attention to our website and/or Twitter account for our updates on this deal.
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
