Starting 15 October face masks compulsory in Leiden University buildings
Starting 15 October 2020, wearing a face mask is compulsory for everyone in Leiden University buildings. This rule also applies to all Leiden University Library (UBL) locations. Specifically for users of the UBL, this means the following:
- The rule applies to all visitors and staff.
- You are required to wear a face mask when you enter, leave and move around our buildings, so also when fetching a cup of coffee or going to the toilet.
- Students and researchers do not have to wear face mask when seated at their study place.
The cafés in our buildings are only open for take-away food and drinks.
We appreciate that wearing a face mask can be uncomfortable. But more than anything we are relieved that the stricter government measures will not further affect our library services or teaching at the university.
The rule on wearing of face masks in our buildings has been added to the university house rules, which makes wearing a face mask mandatory. This rule is in accordance with the measures announced by the government on 13 October, and anticipates a law that will soon be enacted, which will make the use of face masks in public indoor settings mandatory.
