Now available: full archive of Egyptian newspaper al-Ahrām

Students and staff of Leiden University now have permanent access to the full archive of the important Egyptian newspaper al-Ahrām  الأهرام (from 1876 onwards). This archive is of large value for historical, literary and linguistic research about Egypt and the Arab world as a whole.
 
Al-Ahrām is the best-known newspaper of Egypt and one of the most important newspapers in the Arab world. The archive has been made available by East View Information Services and is available through the Leiden University Libraries catalogue. The archive was acquired after a successful trial. Users may browse through the archive and search it thanks to automatic text recognition (OCR).

Al-Ahrām can be found via Find Databases or using the library catalogue.
 
Leiden University students and employees can access this resource from outside the campus using their ULCN account.
