What did the CIA know? Look into the archive! Permanent access
Staff and students of Leiden University and users of the ASCL library have now permanent access to the Foreign Broadcast Information Service Daily Reports. This Readex database contains translated transcripts of foreign news sources in the period 1941–1996 collected by the American CIA. After a successful trial, Leiden University Libraries and African Study Centre Leiden decided to acquire the full archive.
Foreign Broadcast Information Service Daily Reports is a valuable source for historical research on virtually all countries in the world. The Readex interface allows users to search within reports by country, date or keywords.
The database offers a unique view on world news as it was reported in the countries where it originated.
