Entrance card for the Asian Library

15 December 2017

The Asian Library has been created to support students and researchers in their use of the Asian collections. During exam periods, the reading room of the Asian Library is heavily crowded, also by students who only seek a workspace.

For this reason, Leiden University Libraries will regulate access to the Asian Library, in order to allow researchers and students to use the Asian collections as intended. Unfortunately, earlier measures such as offering additional study spaces at the faculty locations were not successful.

Students and researchers from disciplines related to Asian Studies may pick up a temporary entrance card for the Asian Library at the Student Information Desk inside the Lipsius building. This card may be used until February 1, 2018. From February onwards, entrance will be regulated by means of access rights connected to the LU-Card.

Students and researchers who wish to use the Asian collections occasionally can obtain a card from the Information desk inside the University Library. An ID-card will be held in deposit for the duration of the visit to the Asian Library.
